8x8 LED matrix controlled by Arduino UNO R3

Hello, welcome back to a new article on the Blog Waiting for the Bus . Today I'll talk about a 'idea I had for a long time: to show you how to create a matrix of 5X5 LED with high brightness LED. The project has already been used in a previous video and is one of the photo below:

For some time I thought I show you how to build it, but its implementation is not suitable for a beginner who does not have a good manual with the welder. Yesterday I found in a local electronics store a small module based on the integrated of the Maxim MAX7219 fully working for 9 Euro . So I said: here is an economic thing! Who knows if you can easily use?Perhaps with a little 'programming works, without spending hours to assemble the components with the risk of derailed it, literally! The end result is all the new video that is at the end of this article, but let's order and start with the display module 8x8.

In the picture the form with the usual 50 cents. I removed the display 1088AS to show you a few underlying components: a resistor and two capacities. I started looking for information and documentation for the module and found a site that explains how it works starting from its mounting. In addition, at the end of the article, it has a small sketch for the test. The integrated MAX 7219 was impressive in its versatility and I decided to change the sketch, which does not use the library official Arduino but simple instructions. So I set out to do my favorite play of LED: a light that rotates counterclockwise, from the outside to the whole, and which repeats the route in reverse. At every turn increases its speed, and when you turn on the LED on pin 13 of the board Arduino UNO R3, slows down its mad race to begin again.

I do not have time to comment on the sketch that I propose , but I plan to do it soon. For now I'll stop here: it's the bus. I leave you with the video posted on the YouTube channel to which recommend you subscribe to not miss the next video.
